The Karachi Port handled 76,024 tonnes of cargo comprising 65,856 tonnes of import cargo and 10,168 tonnes of export cargo including 3,900 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 65,856 tonnes comprised of 34,216 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,283 tonnes of general cargo; 15,357 tonnes of total bulk cargo and 13,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 10,168 tonnes comprised of 8,568 tonnes of containerised cargo and 1,600 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 3,900 containers comprising of 2,452 containers import and 1,448 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 966 of 20's and 651 of 40's loaded while 66 of 20's and 59 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 236 of 20's and 57 of 40's loaded containers while 174 of 20's and 462 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were ten ships namely Cosco Fukuyama, Fowairet, Mid Fortune, MT Lahore, Spottail, Al Mahboobah, Positive Brave, Paglia, Greener and Da Hua carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical, vehicle, steel and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were ten vessels viz. YM Enlightenment, MOL Explorer, Lissy Schulte, Hyundai Vancouver, KY Venus, Athina, Bremen Trader, Positive Brave, Paglia and Chang Hang Haohal carrying containers, oil tankers, vehicle and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were two ships namely Maraki-K and Da Yu Xia carrying meal and general cargo sailed out to sea on Monday, while another ship namely MOL Explorer carrying containers is expected to sail on Tuesday.
There were four vessels viz. Cosco Haifa, Taroko, Hammonia Virginia and Al Dasma carrying containers and oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Monday, while two vessels viz. Hasco Jade and Chipol Brok Star carrying general cargo and project cargo respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
