The street crime in the provincial metropolis has been decreased by 35 percent since the launch of Dolphin Force, claimed SP Mujahid Syed Karrar Hussain here on Monday. "We had equipped the Dolphin squad with latest technology, especially by allowing them online access to the Criminal Record Management System (CRMS) with the aim to protect citizens' lives and street crime in the city," he said.
Talking to Business Recorder, Mujahid said since its launch the Dolphin Force had detained over 75 wanted criminals from the city. "Dolphin Force had also arrested over 200 criminals involved in robberies, thefts, burglaries and other cases," he mentioned.
While responding to a query about the mandate of Police Response Unit (PRU), he said both the forces have the same mandate. However, the personnel of PRU are unable to patrol in streets as they have cars while the Dolphin's force can easily move across streets and crowded areas, he added.
He said the police department has also hired around 1400 cops for further strengthening Dolphin Force. Some of the personnel have been sent to Turkey for training, he added.
