The Punjab government has decided to provide solar energy solutions to 1023 Basic Health Units (BHUs) throughout the province and a summary for approval has been forward to the Planning and Development (P&D) department, said sources. According to the sources, the Punjab government has already allocated Rs1.35 billion budget for this purpose.
The P&D department would soon prepare a PC-I of the project to materialise the government decision, the sources added.
Already, the government has shifted traffic signals and street lights on solar solutions and a string of solar panels can easily be notices on leading roads and streets of major cities in different districts.
Interestingly, the trend of shifting to the solar energy is also becoming popular amongst the private citizens in order to cut energy cost.
