Dense fog, rainfall forecast for most parts of country

The Met Office on Tuesday forecast dense fog, rainfall and snowfall for the most parts of the country in the next 24 hours. It said that rain with snowfall is expected over the hills at scattered places of Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, Rawalpindi Gujranwala, Sargodha, Lahore divisions, besides Fata, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.
Rain is also likely at isolated places in Kohat, Bannu, D.I. Khan, Zhob and Quetta divisions but cold and dry weather elsewhere in the country. The Met said that dense fog was likely to continue over the plain areas of Punjab and Upper Sindh during the night and morning hours. "A westerly wave is affecting upper parts of the country and likely to persist till Saturday," it said. Maximum rainfall was recorded in Dir 17mm, Mirkhani 12mm, Malamjabba and Pattan 11mm, each, Parachinar, Lower Dir and Chitral 8mm, each, Kalam 7mm, Saidu Sharif 5mm, Drosh 4mm, Balakot, Rawalakot, Murree, Garidupatta and Muzaffarabad 2mm, each, in the last 214 hours. Weather in the next 48 hours: Rain with snowfall over the hills is expected at scattered places of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Upper Punjab, Fata, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir and cold and dry weather elsewhere in the country.
