Activity at Karachi & Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 120,762 tonnes of cargo comprising 96,952 tonnes of import cargo and 23,810 tonnes of export cargo including 6,898 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 96,952 tonnes comprised of 45,420 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,205 tonnes of general cargo; 13,625 tonnes of coal and 35,702 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 23,810 tonnes comprised of 20,212 tonnes of containerised cargo; 200 tonnes of general cargo and 3,398 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,898 containers comprising of 2,783 containers import and 4,115 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1,241 of 20's and 767 of 40's loaded while 08 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 319 of 20's and 339 of 40's loaded containers while 936 of 20's and 1,091 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely Hyundai Oakland, Wan Hai-511, STI Broadway, Lia, Han Xin and Ocean Success carrying containers, oil tanker, coal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were five vessels viz. KMTC Mumbai, Northern Dependant, Al Dasma, Zhen Hua-10 and Ocean Success carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were two ships namely OOCL Italy and Hong Master carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while two ships namely Cosco Haifa and Selin-D carrying containers and oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Thursday.
There were three vessels viz. MOL Experience, Jeil Crystal and Apiradee Naree carrying containers, oil tanker and coal respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while four vessels viz. YM Excellence, Najdiah, Glovis Challenge and Ji Xiang Song carrying containers, oil tanker, vehicle and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 130,152 tonnes includes 39,538 tonnes of furnace oil; 4,526 tonnes of palm oil; 3,061 tonnes of canola seeds; 25,000 tonnes of LNG; 10,563 tonnes of coal, 7,990 tonnes of chemical and 39,374 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 39,348 tonnes includes 6,934 tonnes of rice and 32,414 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,252 containers comprising of 1,546 containers import and 1,706 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There were three ships namely CV Maersk Detroit, MV Amoy Action and MT Brizo carrying containers, coal and furnace oil respectively expected to sail on Wednesday afternoon. A total number of nine vessels viz. CV MSC Silvana, CV Maersk Detroit, MV Mariman, MV Amoy Action, MV Glory Navigator, MT Atlantic Glory, MT Umm Bao, MT Bochem Chennai and MT Brizo currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, coal, chemical, canola seeds, LPG, LNG, palm oil and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as nine ships namely CV Maersk Stepnica, MV Igic Anka, MV Happy Penguin, MV Saadong Halyao, MT Black Purl, MT El-Kadel, MT Ser Enget-I, MT Distya Amely and MT Bunga Allium carrying containers, chemical, soyabean seeds, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Wednesday.
There were two vessels viz. CV Maersk Stepnica and MT Elka Delphi carrying containers and diesel oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday. There were six ships namely CV MSC Asya, CV MSC Rita, CV ER Tianping, MV Malta, MT Maran Gas Delphi and MT Al Dasma carrying containers, chemical, LNG and diesel oil respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while another ship namely CV CMA CGM Comeille carrying containers is due to arrive on Thursday.
