Speakers at a seminar stressed the need to change the attitude of policemen and traffic wardens towards citizens by providing them proper counselling, especially to those who are performing their duties on roads to check 'traffic violators' and criminals. The seminar was held on Thursday at the Alhamra Art Council Lahore which was organised by the City Traffic Police. It was addressed by CCPO Lahore Amin Wains, DIG Traffic Syed Ahmed Mubeen, Psychologist and Principal of College of Home Economics Farah Yaqoob and other senior officers.
Psychologist Farah Yaqoob said the traffic wardens and police officials should treat children very carefully as they often complain about the cruel and improper attitude of cops. She said the children are affected by such attitude and carry its effect the rest of their lives. Farah said it becomes very difficult to rehabilitate the children who are affected psychologically by facing criminal proceedings or charges. They (children) know police as a symbol of terror, she opined.
The CCPO said that various seminars and programmes should be conducted to create awareness among policemen to change their attitude towards citizens, especially minors and senior citizens. "I have received many complaints against traffic wardens and police officials for misbehaving with citizens," he said. He stressed that their attitude must be professional. DIG Traffic Syed Mubeen also spoke on the occasion.
