Prices of essential food items show modest decline

Prices of essential food items, including vegetable, pulses, fruits, and others, have witnessed a slight decline in retail market, according to survey conducted by Business Recorder here on Sunday.
1-kilogram rice has gone down from Rs 110 to 100, while tota rice being available at Rs 50 per kg which was selling at Rs 60 in the preceding week as compared to the last week, the survey noticed. Similarly, the price of red bean has decreased from Rs 120 to 110 per kg in retail market.
However, the price of dal channa has increased from Rs 160 per kg to 180 per kg in retail market, whereas the dal masoor priced at Rs 140 per kg, which was selling at Rs 130 per kg in the previous week.
According to survey, the moonge is being sold at Rs 120 per kg, dal green at Rs 120 per kg, while lobiya being available at Rs 120 per kg. 1-kilogram gram flour (baisen) is being available at Rs 120 per kg.
While, the survey witnessed that the price of 1-kilogram sugar has increased from Rs 64 to 67 in retail market. Mauva is being sold at Rs 160 and 180 per kg, while big kabali white channa Rs 180 per kg.
Price of all brands and quality of cooking/ghee were remained stable as no significant changes or decrease witnessed in retail market, as 1-litre cooking oil is being sold within range of Rs150, 160 and 170.
The survey witnessed that prices of garlic and ginger, which is mostly used item of kitchen, have been soared up in retail market, which being sold at Rs 400 and 200 per kg respectively.
A 50 percent cut has been registered in percent of tomato as being sold at Rs 20 per kg, which was selling at Rs 40 per kg in preceding week, while the onion is being sold at Rs 30 and 20 per kg in retail market.
According to the survey, the prices of other vegetable have remained unchanged but available at reasonable prices. Red potato is being sold at Rs 40 per kg, while white color potato available at Rs 20 per kg.
Peas is being sold at Rs 150 per kg, arvi at Rs 70 per kg, capsicum at 100 per kg, turnip at 20 per kg, cucumber at 40 per kg and calabash at Rs 50 per kg, the survey noticed.
The survey witnessed that 1-kilogram chicken priced at Rs 126 in retail market, while a dozen of farm eggs are being sold at Rs 120 and 130 in retail market. Cow meat is being sold at Rs 340 per kg, while mutton available at Rs 700 per kilogram.
The fruits are being available at high price, as 1-kilogram golden apples being sold at Rs 200 and red apples available within range of Rs 100 and 80 per kg. Guava being sold at Rs 50 per kg, pomegranate being available at Rs 120 and 100 per kg, a dozen of banana is being available at Rs 50 and 40 in retail market.
