"Chicago continued firmer on the back of slow farmer selling, but the European cash market took a bit of a breather ahead of the weekend as continued slack demand due to tight margins and low meat prices continued to dampen the upward trend," one broker said.

South American soymeal was offered between $3 a tonne up $2 down from Thursday, mostly following the trend in CBOT soymeal futures. April/Sept Brazilian soymeal pellets changed hands at $378 a tonne cif Rotterdam, and Argentine high-protein soymeal fetched $398 a tonne cif Rotterdam for February shipment.

Most other products were quoted flat to a little firmer following soymeal and rapeseed futures on fears that the cold spell in Europe could hurt early crops. Bids were scarce and no deals were reported.
