More winter rain, snowfall likely

A fresh weather system is expected to trigger more winter rains across the country from next Friday to Sunday, the Met Office said on Wednesday. It said that the new weather system was expected to unleash rain with snowfall over scores of mountainous places in Balochistan from Friday to Sunday. Similarly rain-thunderstorm is expected at isolated places in Sindh from Friday to Saturday.
Rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills is expected at scattered places in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA from next Saturday to Wednesday. Upper Punjab and Islamabad are also expected to receive rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills at scattered places from Sunday to Wednesday. Rain is also likely to shower at isolated places in Southern Punjab on Saturday and Sunday.
Rain-thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills is expected at scattered places in Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir from Saturday to Wednesday. "Another active westerly wave is likely to enter in the country through Balochistan on Friday," the Met said. In the next 24 hours: Mainly very cold and dry weather is expected in the most parts of the country. Fog is likely to continue over the plain areas of Punjab and Upper Sindh during the night and morning hours.
In the next 48 hours: Mainly very cold and dry weather is expected in the most parts of the country. However rain- thunderstorm with snowfall over the hills expected at number of places in Balochistan and at isolated place in Sindh on Friday. Fog is likely to prevail over the plain areas of Punjab during the night and morning hours.
Temperature in Kalam was minus 16 degrees Celsius, Astore minus 12, Skardu minus 11, Kalat minus nine, Dir, Gilgit and Gupis minus eight, each, Quetta, Rawalakot and Bagrote minus seven, each, Hunza and Malamjabba minus six, each, Parachinar and Drosh minus five, each, Kakul minus four and Murree and Chitral minus three, each, in the 24 hours.
