Remote areas: special pay package for doctors recommended

The cabinet committee on health sector reforms has recommended special pay package to the medical officers/women medical officers recruited on contract basis for the remote hospitals according to the distance. The recommendation was made in a meeting of the cabinet committee held here Wednesday with provincial Minister for Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Khawaja Salman Rafique in the chair.
Deliberation were made at the meeting regarding the administrative matters, recruitments of staff, and development scheme of tertiary as well as secondary and primary hospitals. Minister for Population Welfare Begum Zakia Shahnawaz, Minister for Social Welfare Syed Haroon Sultan, Secretary Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Najam Ahmed Shah, Secretary Primary & Secondary Health Ali Jan Khan, Vice Chancellor King Edward Medical University Professor Faisal Masood, Member Health P&D Dr Shabana Haider, Special Secretary Health Dr Sajid Mahmood Chauhan, Additional Secretary Health Development Mussarat Jabeen, Chief Planning Officer Abdul Haq Bhatti, Dr Naeem ud Din Mian and the officers of Finance and other departments attended the meeting.
Najam Ahmed Shah apprised the meeting of the completed development projects and requested the minister to approach Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for seeking suitable time for inauguration of the completed projects. Salman Rafique approved recruitment of cardiologists for DHQ Hospital Vehari and Orthopedic Surgeon and Ophthalmologist for THQ Hospital Daska. Najam Ahmed Shah informed the meeting that another 2,100 nurses were being recruited to meet the requirements of the hospitals. He said that a requisition of the nurses was being sent to Punjab Public Service Commission. He informed that on the direction of Chief Minister, clinical pharmacy initiative was being taken in the hospitals.
