Activities at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 79,911 tonnes of cargo comprising 57,282 tonnes of import cargo and 22,629 tonnes of export cargo including 5,242 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 57,282 tonnes comprised of 15,811 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,067 tonnes of general cargo; 2,903 tonnes of total bulk and 35,501 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 22,629 tonnes comprised of 16,309 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,320 tonnes of general cargo and 1,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 5,242 containers comprising of 1,459 containers import and 3,783 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 440 of 20's and 447 of 40's loaded while 125 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 359 of 20's and 285 of 40's loaded containers while 594 of 20's and 1,130 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were five ships namely Seadream, Bremen Trader, Da Yu Xia and Danceflora SW carrying containers, chemical, coal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. MOL Endowment, MT Karachi, Loyal Pegasus, Achilleas-S and Lian Hua Song carrying containers, oil tankers, coal and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were two ships namely UAFL Zanzibar and Loyal Pegasus carrying containers and oil tanker sailed out to sea on Thursday, while three ships namely MT Karachi, Achilleas-S and Zhen Hua-10, carrying oil tankers, coal and general cargo respectively to sail on Friday.
There are seven vessels viz. Taroko, Sabya, Xin Zhang Zhou, Hyundai Highness, Oriental Marguerite, Cevdet-A and Fareast Harmony carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and steel respectively due to arrive on Friday.

The total import cargo of 130,816 tonnes includes 46,988 tonnes of furnace oil; 7,800 tonnes of palm oil; 351 tonnes of LPG; 29,526 tonnes of LNG and 46,151 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 38,247 tonnes includes 38,247 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,567 containers comprising of 1,554 containers import and 2,013 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. There was one ship namely MT Pacific Energy carrying oil tanker sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while another ship namely CV CMA CGM Uruguay carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of seven vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Uruguay, MV Han Hui, MT Maran Gas Delphi, MT Igic Anka, MT Hong Hai-6, MT Pacific Energy and MT Grand Ace-1 currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, project cargo, LNG, LPG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as thirteen ships namely CV CMA CGM Maupassant, CV MSC Rita, MV YM Mirinda, MV Saadong Hai Yao, MV Fu Ming, MT Liberty-N, MT Nordic Gas, MT Gan Tribute, MT Serenceti, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Harmony, MT Ashada and MT Bunga Alamanda carrying containers, project cargo, soyabean seeds, chemical, coal, LPG, diesel oil, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Thursday.
There were five vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Maupassant, MV YM Mirinda, MV Fu Ming, MT Liberty-N and MT MT Serenceti carrying containers, project cargo, LPG, furnace oil and diesel oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal Friday. There were six ships namely CV MSC Rita, CV Safmarine, MV Vera, MT Lahore, MT Shalamar and MT Arietis carrying containers, project cargo, furnace oil and diesel oil respectively due to arrive on Thursday while two ships namely CV Uni Florida and CV CSAV Toconao carrying containers are due to arrive on Friday.
