UAF's Food Engineering Programme accredited

Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has accredited Food Engineering Program of the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF). Department of Food Engineering Chairman Dr Muhammad Azam Khan said the Food Engineering degree program had been designed in accordance with the basic guiding principles of the Accreditation Board of Engineering and technology (ABET) in the USA to meet the current needs of value addition of farm products and self-employment prospects.
To prepare draft curriculum of degree program in Food Engineering, Professor Dr Yus Aniza, HoD and Professor Dr M.N Ibrahim, Department of Process and Food Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University Putra Malaysia (UPM), were invited at the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad earlier.
Post-harvest food handling is a significant feature in agriculture sector and skill in dealing with agricultural produces at and off-farm gate is an uphill task. It is worth mentioning here, the University is heavily investing on human resources and faculty development as more than 100 university faculty members are studying abroad, which would bring new ideas, skills and knowledge to deal with the different challenges facing the country especially the agricultural sector. The UPM is also teaching at the campus through online.
