KMU, HEC joint social integration outreach programme concludes

To improve the standard of health education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a joint Social Integration Outreach Programme of Khyber Medical University Peshawar and Higher Education Commission concluded.
KMU Peshawar in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission carried out a project to develop closer interaction of the university with schools and raise awareness regarding health and hygiene, according to the statement issued by the KMU Peshawar, here on Tuesday.
In this connection KMU in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission carried out a project to develop closer interaction of the university with schools and raise awareness regarding health and hygiene.
The aim of this project was to promote health by providing health education to the middle school students. The project included visit of KMU faculty members to ten schools in district Peshawar, organising a health and hygiene day at both public and private schools where the faculty members delivered lectures to students. In addition, the students were given tasks to prepare diagrams and models on health and hygiene.
The project successfully achieved its goals. A comprehensive project completion report was published and presented to the Vice Chancellor KMU Professor Dr Muhammad Hafizullah in a ceremony held at KMU.
Principals of participating schools, project management team and key officers of KMU were present on the occasion. The project manager Dr Yasar Yousafzai presented the overview of the project and acknowledged the contributions of the participating schools, facilitators and support staff.
Registrar KMU Professor Dr Muhammad Salim Gandapur in his speech stressed on the need for more such awareness projects and the long-term benefits of child health education. Director of the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialisation (ORIC), Dr Ziaul Haq shed light on the significance of community outreach in disease prevention.
Vice Chancellor KMU, Professor Dr Hafizullah stressed the significance of public awareness in reducing disease burden from the society. He also spoke about the vision of KMU on continuing such activities. Dr Yasar Yousafzai then presented the report to the honourable vice chancellor. Certificates of appreciation were distributed among the principals of participating schools, facilitators and support staff.
