HEC awards top most 'W' category to SMIU

Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan's Quality Assurance Agency on Wednesday awarded top most "W" category to Sindh Madressatul Islam University for consequently second year. The SMIU has received 86.58 points, out of 100 points for the "W" category, in terms of quality of education, and on the basis of multiple parameters including its evaluation of academic programmes.
It must be mentioned over here that Sindh Madressatul Islam University had received its charter from the Government of Sindh in 2012 and the first batch of the students was enrolled in January 2013. Therefore, just in four years of its academic activities, SMIU has received highest "W" category from HEC for two times. It also be mentioned over here that SMIU has emerged as one of the best universities of the country led by its Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh in a shortest period after its foundation.
Now the alma mater of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah has reached to the highest level of success and playing significant role in imparting quality education to young generation of the country. On the other hand SMIU has clarified the news item published in newspaper on Tuesday, with reference to Advocate General of Sindh Zameer Ghumro against the appointment of present Vice Chancellor as Principal in 1994.
The SMIU has said that the aforesaid matter is in High Court of Sindh and it must be mentioned over here that Zameer Ghumro was counsel of the opposite party before his appointment as Advocate General of Sindh.
Therefore, his statement must be seen in such perspective. The spokesperson of SMIU has requested the media outlets and the persons related to the case to avoid commenting on the matter till the decision comes out from the honourable court.
