32KV transmission line launched at Hayatabad: Mega hydel power projects under implementation: Jhagra

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Engineer Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has said that to ensure un-interrupted electricity supply in the province and Fata, not only new grid stations are installed but the transmission lines are also being upgraded. He was addressing the launching ceremony of 132KV double circuit power transmission line at Hayatabad in Peshawar on Monday.
Malik Asad, Chairman, Board of Directors and Anwarul Haq, Chief Executive Pesco as well as senior officials of Pesco and Tesco were present on the occasion. The Governor said the country was faced with energy resource based deficiency for quite some time. However, he added, due to keen interest of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, solid measures on vast level were in progress to overcome the problem.
In this connection, he said, mega hydle power generation projects were under implementation on Indus, Swat and Kunhar River systems in the province. "At the same time, there is also dire need to ensure efficient application of the available resources to create possibility that we may become part of the balanced economic environment internationally," the Governor said.
Referring to the importance of efficient electrification system in Fata, the Governor said, there was also dire need to put special focus in that respect. "We will never allow any hardship on account of financial constraints in ensuring timely completion of the rehabilitation oriented project in Fata," he further observed. Appreciating the launching of 132KV Double Circuit Transmission Line, the Governor observed that it, as a third transmission mean, would help in ensuring un-interrupted provision of electricity in the Peshawar Valley.
