Minister asks PCMA to prepare feasibility

Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms Professor Ahsan Iqbal while giving approval to put in place 'Naphtha Cracker Complex' in the country has asked the Pakistan Chemical Manufacturers Association (PCMA) to prepare a feasibility and viable business plan for it.
During a meeting with the PCMA delegation the other day, the Minister also asked the PCMA to come up with a RFP in shape of a Business Plan for Naphtha Cracker Complex giving complete specifications for the Planning Commission. He also announced to call a round table shortly for promoting Industry-Academia Linkages to contribute to create knowledge economy by involving PCMA and all the heads of chemical / chemistry departments of major universities.
The Minister said that the PCMA should work to create a 10 years plan/road-map for chemical industry showing the mile-stones and future vision. On the request of PCMA, the Minister consented to look into the measures to improve the working of PCSIR by creating a board managed and chaired by private sector pre-dominantly so that the applied research is ensured through this important institution. The PCMA team that met the Minister consisted of Vice Chairman PCMA Abrar Ahmad, senior members of PCMA EC Committee including Pervez A Khan, Pervez Sufi, Ghulam Mustafa, Dr Farrukh Mukhtar and others.
