LUMS team visits Multan Chamber

A delegation of professors of Economics department of LUMS on Monday visited the Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industries and exchanged views with think tank of the chamber on backwardness of Southern Punjab and its causes. The delegation led by Professor Turab Hassan, Professor Syed Hassan and Professor Usman Khan exchanged views with former presidents of MCCI Mian Iqbal Hassan, Khawaja Muhammad Yousaf, Khawaja Muhammad Usman, and Chairman of All Pakistan Oil Mills Association (APMOA) Khawaja Muhammad Fazil.
They told the delegation that there was dire need of industrialisation in South Punjab to end the joblessness and to bring economic prosperity. They said South Punjab must be declared as tax-free zone for 10 years to attract the foreign as well as national investors. They suggested that energy problems must be resolved on top priority basis to run the industry while problems confronted by the small and medium enterprises and vale-added sector should also be resolved.
