31 foreign NGOs support stronger communities in Sindh

31 international NGOs in Pakistan annually reach out to 08 million people in Sindh through humanitarian relief and development assistance along with the Government of Pakistan. This was mentioned at a high level dinner organised by the Consulate General of Switzerland in Karachi in collaboration with the Pakistan Humanitarian Forum (PHF) at a local hotel.
Philippe Crevoisier, the Swiss CG hosted this exclusive event to acknowledge the work all these international NGOs are carrying out in interior Sindh to provide clean drinking water, to support women in rural areas with income generation skills, to train school teachers and to give direct support to government on health, nutrition and disaster risk management.
Among prominent guests present at the event were Shamim Mumtaz, Provincial Minister for Social Welfare, Consul Generals, representatives of the United Nations, international and local NGOs, donor agencies, media and academia.
Heather Macey, Country Co-ordinator of PHF said, "In a time of crisis it takes partnerships between humanitarian and development actors and Governments to respond effectively and help communities back on their feet and this high level dinner is an opportunity to share the work of INGOs working across Sindh and discuss opportunities for improved partnership with the Government of Pakistan and key stakeholders".
