GTex Expo concludes with $18 million deals

The three-day GTex International B2B Textile Machinery Brand Expo concluded with $18 million matured deals at the Expo Centre here Sunday. Sindh Transport Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. He visited stalls and interacted with foreign and local exhibitors.
The CEO Global Enterprise Mujib R Siddiqi, Director Sohail Aziz, General Manager Ghousia, Zohaib Siddiqi and Naeemuddin of United Machinery were also present.
During the visit, Nasir Hussain Shah said that textile sector is being ignored in Pakistan for many years and federal government should immediately extend support to this sector. "Textile exports in 2013 stood at $25 billion which had to be increased but it is on decline. Pakistani exporters are unable to compete in the international market due to huge electricity bills here. Such expos should be held on a regular basis to create business opportunities," he added.
The FBR should resolve the issue of refund to exporters to enable them to enhance their exports and earn more foreign exchange for the country, he maintained.
He said Mayor Wasim Akhtar is very friendly and the government of Sindh supports him and his team. "We are providing Rs 5 crores every month while all development schemes are also being implemented under the provincial ADP," he added.
Later, Nasir visited the Export Processing Zone Authority (EPZA) stall, where he was briefed on the launch of the KEPZ Phase-III extension & also providing the promotional facilities to the investors of Karachi Export Processing Zone.
He appreciated the efforts of EPZA toward increasing the export and earn foreign exchange as well as helping to build a good image of Pakistan in international market.
On the occasion, Global Enterprise CEO Mujib R Siddiqi termed GTex expo a huge success saying that $18 million business deals have been matured and much more are in the pipeline.
The event provided a great business opportunity to importers and exporters. GTex is the largest and the most successful expo of its kind in the region in which all the leading international brands from textile, garment, leather, digital printing, embroidery machinery, accessories, chemical, dyes, energy, sectors are participating, as per their past practice displayed the latest innovations from various countries, ie, China, Japan, Australia, Taiwan, Italy, Turkey, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Sweden, Netherlands, Czech Republic, India, Hong Kong, France, Austria, Iran, Korea, Ireland, Malaysia, Belgium, UK, USA, Singapore, etc, with more than 670 major partner brands. A few of major brands were Al Amin Industries, Nazer Group, CHT Pakistan, Madhani Associates, Humble Embroidery and Taji Maan.
