Train accidents: PPPP submits calling- attention notice in NA Secretariat

Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarian (PPPP) has submitted a calling attention notice with the National Assembly Secretariat about the train incidents. PPPP Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) Syed Naveed Qamar, Mir Aijaz Jakhrani, Shahida Rehmani, Beelum Husnain, Noman Islam Sheikh and Ramesh Lal submitted the calling attention notice with the National Assembly Secretariat on Monday. They calling attention notice has been submitted under Rule 88 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in National Assembly 2007.
According to the calling attention notice, "We the undersigned would like to invite the attention of Minister for Railways towards the repeated number of lethal train accidents with the most recent one in which a passenger train collided with a car near Gojra and resulted in a loss of six precious human lives, causing grave concerns among the public.
"The federal government has so far failed to control such incidents as it is not the first time that such lethal incident took place. Over a year or so, a number of similar incidents have taken place which resulted in substantial human and financial losses. Just recently a tragic railway accident occurred at Landhi, Karachi, in which at least twenty-two people died and hundreds sustained serious injuries.
"In November 2015, 19 people were killed in Balochistan after a train's brakes failed and it sped down the side of a mountain. In July 2015, at least 17 people were killed when a special military train fell into a canal after a bridge collapsed partially."
