The Karachi Port handled 151,301 tonnes of cargo comprising 131,724 tonnes of import cargo and 19,577 tonnes of export cargo including 5,909 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargo of 131,724 tonnes comprised of 50,033 tonnes of containerised cargo; 29,219 tonnes of general cargo; 21,510 tonnes of bulk cargo: 18,150 tonnes of coal; 3,360 tonnes of soyabean meal and 30,962 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 19,577 tonnes comprised of 17,677 tonnes of containerised cargo and 1,900 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 5,909 containers comprising of 3,608 containers import and 2,301 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,662 of 20's and 859 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 114 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 351 of 20's and 352 of 40's loaded containers while 286 of 20's and 480 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely Prosper, CSCL Sydney, Everrich-7, Chemroad Nova, Ocean Vendor and Iron Baron-V carrying containers, oil tankers, coal and talcum powder respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were six vessels viz. Express Black Sea, Taroco, Pike, MT Karachi, Viking Chance and Dato Success carrying containers, oil tankers, vehicle and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were four ships namely Express Black Sea, YM Orchid, Pantanal and Dato Success carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while three ships namely Taroko, Clio and Peace Angel carrying containers, oil tanker and steel respectively are expected to sail on Wednesday.
There were three vessels viz. CMA CGM Eiffel, Chemroad Echo and Ince Fortune carrying containers, oil tankers respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while eight vessels viz. Kota Kasturi, Cosco Wellington, Kota Lahir, Venice Bridge, MT Quetta, Farha, Oriental Protea and HHL Amur carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.
