Meeting held to review PHF various issues

Secretary Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Najam Ahmad Shah chaired a meeting of Financial and Technical Committee (F&TC) of Punjab Health Foundation in Civil Secretariat on Friday. PHF Managing Director Dr Suhail Saqlain briefed the participants regarding the different matters / issues of the foundation.
According to the agenda, the meeting gave approval for revised budget and new initiatives including automation of the loaning system, training of the general practitioners on clinical ethics, launching of awareness activities regarding the new initiatives including soft loans for private sectors' doctors and allied health professionals.
Dr Sohail Saqlain informed the meeting that the doctors applied for loans have furnished documents including income and expenditure statement and the subcommittee set up for the purpose by the F&TC and Board of Directors has verified the documents.
The meeting also discussed the hardship cases of such doctors who were either died or seriously ill and their liabilities of loan are still pending due to non-functioning of their clinics.
The secretary directed that Finance and Regulation departments' advises should be taken before waving off their pending liabilities according to the rules.
On the issue of converting services of daily wages employees of PHF on contractual mode, the MD apprised the secretary that BoD has full power in this matter.
Secretary Health Najam Ahmad Shah directed that before taking any step, the Law department and regulation wing should also be consulted and their expert opinion also be taken. He directed that a training module should be prepared with the collaboration of University of Health Sciences for the private sector doctors.
