Activities of Karachi Port

The Karachi Port handled 111,805 tonnes of cargo comprising 88,440 tonnes of import cargo and 23,365 tonnes of export cargo including 6,033 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 88,440 tonnes comprised of 41,649 tonnes of containerised cargo; 04 tonnes of general cargo; 35,841 tonnes of bulk cargo and 10,946 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 23,365 tonnes comprised of 20,835 tonnes of containerised cargo; 30 tonnes of general cargo and 2,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 6,033 containers comprising of 3,102 containers import and 2,931 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1,513 of 20's and 756 of 40's loaded while 09 of 20's and 34 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 526 of 20's and 289 of 40's loaded containers while 427 of 20's and 700 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Vania, Alpine Persefone, Chemroad Echo, Hanne Danica and Baltic Harmony carrying containers, oil tankers, fertilizer and steel respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were three vessels viz. Newark, Cevdeta and Oriental Protea carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths.
There were two ships namely CMA CGM Eiffel and Newark carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday.
There were two vessels viz. MT Shalamar and Serengeti carrying oil tanker and mogas respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while five vessels viz. Vecchiq Bridge, Langeoog, ABB Vanessa, Aeolos and Waldyslaw Orkan carrying containers, coal and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.
