59,340 emergency victims rescued in January

Punjab Emergency Services (Rescue 1122) has rescued 57846 victims of different emergencies while conducting 59340 rescue operations in the month of January with average response time of 07 minutes. The emergency calls to which Rescue 1122 responded to included 18618 road traffic accidents, 31397 medical emergencies, 1018 fire incidents, 1271 crimes, 30 drowning incidents, 52 building collapses, 17 explosions and 5443 miscellaneous operations.
As per statistics, majority of fire incidents occurred in major cities, including 299 fire in Lahore, 116 in Faisalabad, 95 in Rawalpindi, 66 in Multan, 67 in Gujranwala and 40 in Sialkot. Similarly, 3682 traffic accidents were reported in Lahore, 1806 in Faisalabad, 1027 in Gujranwala, and 1130 in Multan and 633 in Rawalpindi.
The Director General, Punjab Emergency Services, Dr Rizwan Naseer said that over 2300 lives were lost in emergencies in last month, including 1899 during medical emergencies, 288 in road traffic accidents and 21 in building collapses. "We need to go with respect to human life to put our country in the list of developed countries through establishment of safer communities and planned urbanisation," he added.
