KP Assembly condemns US travel ban, criticises Trump

The provincial assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has passed a unanimous resolution terming restriction on Muslim states imposed by US President Donald Trump as cruelty and based on sheer injustice. It said that the restrictions are provocating anti-American sentiments in Muslim states.
The resolution presented by Fakhar-e-Azam Wazir of PPP was also carrying the signatures of the Provincial Minister Shah Farman, Ishtiaq Urmar (PTI), Sardar Hussain Babak (ANP), Mohammad Ali, Aizaz-ul-Mulk (JI) Anwar Hayat (JUI-F) and Shiraz Khan of PML-N. The step of the Trump administration, the resolution said speaks of discriminatory attitude based on sheer enmity against Islam. The house appreciated the decision of the US court in this regard. The house demanded that Trump administration while taking international laws into consideration should avoid taking such steps against Muslim states as such measures create provocation and hatred against the United States, which is against her interest.
Through another resolution the house demanded conducting of formal survey through hospitals where the addicts of Ice drug are admitted for treatment to make effective legislation for its prevention. The joint resolution moved by Nighat Orakzai of PPP was also stamped with the signatures of provincial ministers, Shah Farman, Anisa Zeb Tahirkkheli, Imtiaz Shahid Qureshi, Muzaffar Said advocate, Sardar Hussain Babak, Fakhar-e-Azam Wazir, Shah Hussain and Reshad Khan.
The resolution said that a poisonous drug with the name of Ice is spreading fast in the educational institutions is affecting young generation. Therefore, she said the house through the resolution demands legislation for the prevention of the Ice drug and taking action against those manufacturing and selling it. The resolutions were put to vote and the house adopted them unanimously.
The house earlier suspended the rules to allow the movers to present their resolutions. Meanwhile, the house in wake of the demands of opposition and treasury legislators turned the call attention notice of the PPP MPA Fakhar-e-Azam Wazir regarding the financial position of the province into adjournment motion to hold detailed debate on it while the joint call attention notice of Mohammad Ali of JI, Mohammad Reshad of PML-N and Mahmood Ahmad Khan of JUI-F regarding the provision of different allowances and incentives of the provincial assembly staff to the employees of MPA's Hostel was referred to the special committee of the house.
The Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Technical Education, Arshad Umerzai introduced the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2017 while Provincial Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Mohammad Atif Khan introduced the KP Free Compulsory Primary and Secondary Education Bill, 2017 in the house.
Provincial Minister for Finance, Muzaffar Said presented Report on 2nd Biannual Monitoring on the Implementation of NFC Award (January-June) 2016 in the house. Later, the Speaker, Asad Qaiser announced the prorogation of the proceedings of the house for indefinite period.
