Activities at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 150,517 tonnes of cargo comprising 118,788 tonnes of import cargo and 31,729 tonnes of export cargo including 5,811 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 118,788 tonnes comprised of 46,269 tonnes of containerised cargo; 483 tonnes of general cargo; 42,928 tonnes of bulk cargo: 28,600 tonnes of coal; 7,378 tonnes of DAP; 6,950 tonnes of rock phosphate and 29,108 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 31,729 tonnes comprised of 27,553 tonnes of containerised cargo; 402 tonnes of general cargo; 2,274 tonnes of loose bulk cement and 1,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,811 containers comprising of 3,045 containers import and 2,766 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1,263 of 20's and 878 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 13 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 688 of 20's and 126 of 40's loaded containers while 314 of 20's and 756 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were eight ships namely APL Coral, Cosco Fukuyama, Lissy Schulte, Hyundai Confidence, Unique Infinity, Hongli-8, Skyhigh SW and Antje carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical, soyameaal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. MYK Furano, Sima Giselle, Everrich-5, Alam Molek and Skyhigh SW carrying containers, oil tanker, coal and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were three ships namely NYK Furano, MT Shalamar and Mohar carrying containers, oil tanker and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while four ships namely Hammonia Virginia, Vecchio Bridge, Bunga Laurel and Storm Rider carrying containers, chemical and general cargo respectively are expected to sail on Wednesday.
There were three vessels viz. Taroko, Ever Diamond and MT Quetta carrying containers and oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while four vessels viz. Kota Karim, Vania, MT Lahore and MV CTG Bismuth carrying containers, oil tanker and chemical respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 81,779 tonnes includes 3,912 tonnes of diesel oil; 11,920 tonnes of palm oil; 16,000 tonnes of LNG; 1,515 tonnes of LPG; 18,813 tonnes of coal; 1,647 tonnes of clinker; 8,500 tonnes of chemical and 38,285 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 23,484 tonnes includes 23,484 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,251 containers comprising of 2,015 containers import and 1,236 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. There were two ships namely CV MSC Maria Elena and MV Neptune-D carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while three more ships namely CV Al Rawdah, MV CTG Bismuth and MV BBC Africa carrying containers, chemical and general cargo respectively are expected to sail on the same day.
A total number of nine vessels viz. CV MSC Maria Elena, CV Al Rawdah, MV Zealand Driane, MV BBC Africa, MV Neptune-D, MV CTG Bismuth, MT Nordic Gas, MT Umm Bab and MT Maritime Dinar currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, clinker, general cargo, chemical, LPG, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as thirteen ships namely CV Maersk Kinloss, CV UASC Al Khor, MV Zhe Hua-15, MT Black Pearl, MT Maria-III, MT Truck Gas, MT Gas Lion, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Distya Amiya, MT Ashada, MT Arietis, MT Brizo and MT Limp Galaxy carrying containers, barges, LPG, diesel oil, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three vessels viz. CV Maersk Kinloss, CV UASC Al Khor and MT Brizo carrying containers and furnace oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Tuesday. There were eight ships namely CV MSC Elma, MV Clipper Viking, MV Astraea, MT North Gas, MT Black Pearl, MT Bneider, MT Arietis and MT Pacific Energy carrying containers, chemical, canola seeds, LPG, diesel oil and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Tuesday. There are two ships namely CV Maersk Surabaya and CV FPMCP Fortune carrying containers respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.
