Romanian First Secretary urges promotion of direct trade

Pakistan is safe and peaceful country for foreign investors and doing business, said First Secretary of Romania to Pakistan Mihaita ENE on here on Wednesday. Addressing the members of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), he said that collective efforts were direly needed for the promotion of direct trade between Romania and Pakistan.
It is high time that both countries should focus on initiating direct trade which would be supportive in strengthening the economy and save cost of the two countries, he said. He also discussed different issues with the SCCI members to find out ways and means for further accelerating the trade activities between Romania and Pakistan.
In his address of welcome, President SCCI Majid Raza Bhutta said Romanian market had great potential for Sialkot made products and that visit would help to create effective linkages between business communities of the two countries. Pakistan's exports to Romania were about 20 million dollars in 2015 dollars where as the imports were 390 million dollars, he said. The SCCI President further stated that trade level was below potential and suggested that exchange of trade delegations, joint ventures, B2B meetings between both the countries to help exploit the true potentials of both economies. "This meeting will pave the way for enhancing bilateral trade between Pakistan and Romania," Majid said.
