The Lahore High Court Chief Justice on Friday directed the government to remove Siddiqul Farooq from the post of chairman Evacuee Property Trust Board (EPTB).Proceeding with a petition filed against the appointment of Siddiqul Farooq as chairman EPTB, the LHC Chief Justice, Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, observed that the court would give its verdict if the government did not remove him (Siddiqul Farooq) from the office.
The CJ further observed that the respondent was apparently appointed in violation of rules and regulations. The petitioner's counsel, Hamid Shabbir, said that Farooq was appointed against the merit. He also said that the respondent was 65-year-old and did not have the relevant experience. The petitioner, therefore, prayed to the court to set aside the appointment of Siddiqul Farooq as EPTB chairman.
