Houbara Bustard: CJ LHC seeks explanation form PWLD, FG

Lahore High Court Chief Justice here on Friday has called for an explanation from the Punjab Wildlife Department (PWLD) and federal government as to why the Houbara Bustard has been removed from the protected animals' list (PAL). The CJ Syed Mansoor Ali Shah further directed the government of Punjab to explain by March 03 about the economic development in those areas where hunting took place.
Appearing before the court, Advocate Sheraz Zaka submitted that it was mentioned in a book that how developed countries and multi-national corporations plunder the resources of developing countries. In exchange an undertaking is given to the governments of developing countries that economic development would take place in those areas where exploration of resources and licensing permits of hunting is granted, he added.
