NAB Karachi arrests five accused involved in land fraud case

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi on Friday claimed to have arrested five accused persons wanted in reference no. 6/2017 from different vicinities of Karachi. According to official details, reference was filed against them on the charges of their alleged criminal role in usurping the plots of 358 genuine allottees of Pak Punjab Cooperative Housing Society Ltd comprising 25 acres of precious land situated at Sector 24-A, Scheme 33 Karachi.
The arrested persons were Sajid Ali Khan Yousufzai, purported ex-secretary of the society; Mirza Munir Baig the then the assistant registrar cooperation department government of Sindh; Khudadad Khan Sub-registrar, Gulshan-II government of Sindh; Muhammad Arif and Adnan.
These accused persons were allegedly involved usurping the plots by cancelling the allotments of genuine members and enrolling new members on the platform of a new bogus society namely Employees of Sindh Workers Welfare Board, illegally.
These detained persons were illegally selling and transferring the society's plots to various builders; Falaknaz Builders, Marhaba and Platanium Builder and Snober Builders in return for illegal consideration, committing offences of corruption and misuse of authority. These builders constructed various illegal housing and commercial projects on the land of society and earned billions of illegal benefits.
There are 33 nominated accused persons out of them 13 are on bail while 5 have been arrested on Friday, whereas 15 others including builders and illegal allottees are still absconding. The Karachi Bureau has established special teams to nab the rest of other accused persons.
