Complete shutdown observed in IHK

A complete shutdown was observed on Saturday to mark the anniversary of the hanging of prominent Kashmiri liberation leader, Muhammad Maqbool Butt in the Indian-occupied Kashmir. According to KMS, call for the strike was given by the joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik to press the demand for the transfer of his mortal remains to the occupied Kashmir. All shops and business establishments were closed while traffic was off the road.
Muhammad Maqbool Butt was hanged in New Delhi's Tihar jail on this day in 1984 and was buried in the premises of the prison. The occupation authorities continue to impose restrictions in held Srinagar and other towns by deploying Indian troops and police personnel to prevent people from staging anti-India demonstrations.
