Budgetary proposals for PSDP projects worth Rs 3.37 billion approved by NA body

The National Assembly''s Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial Co-ordination has approved budgetary proposals for different projects, worth Rs 3.37 billion, relating to Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) of Ministry of Inter-Provincial Co-ordination for the next financial year 2017-18. The committee met with Abdul Qahar Khan Wadan in the chair at Islamabad Sports Complex on Monday. The committee scrutinised budgetary proposals relating to PSDP in respect of the ministry and its attached departments for the next financial year.
While briefing the committee, the secretary Ministry of Inter-Provincial Co-ordination said that there are 13 ongoing projects at cost of Rs 2.12 billion, 10 new projects (unapproved) of Pakistan Sports Board at estimated cost of Rs 896.184 million, one project of Pakistan Cricket Board of Rs 100 million, one project of the ministry amounting to Rs 38 million and 5 projects of Pakistan Boy Scout Association at cost of Rs 216.601 million.
The budgetary proposals regarding PSDP for the FY-2017-18 were presented in the meeting for discussion. After detailed discussion and certain observations, the committee approved the budgetary proposals. The DG Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) also briefed the committee about the ongoing and new (approved and unapproved) projects of the ministry and its attached departments. During the discussion over the construction of Narowal Sports Complex, the committee showed its dissatisfaction over the time consumed for its revised estimates.
The minister informed the committee about the reason of delay in work and assured that 70% work of the complex has been completed and the remaining will complete shortly.The committee also discussed the corruption elements in Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches currently being held in Dubai and showed its concern over the poor performance of the Pakistan Cricket Board which failed to refrain the players from the bookies/gamblers. It was decided unanimously that the inquiry already ordered by Pakistan Cricket Board/International Cricket Council (ICC) may be held impartially and its outcome may also be shared with the Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial Co-ordination in its next meeting for its consideration/further action. The committee stressed the need for eliminating the corrupt elements from Pakistan Cricket Board to save the good name of the country.
The meeting was attended by MNAs Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan, Rana Muhammad Hayat Khan, Sardar Muhammad Shafqat Hayat Khan, Begum Tahira Bukhari, Sabiha Nazir, Aftab Shaban Mirani, Iqbal Muhammad Ali Khan, Moulana Amir Zaman and Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Co-ordination Riaz Hussain Pirzada and senior officers from Ministry of Inter-Provincial Co-ordination.
