PACP holds training programme

The Punjab AIDS Control Program (PACP) organised training of medical officers and paramedical staff on HIV/AIDS case detection, treatment and counselling at Government Paramedical College Sargodha on Thursday.
A spokesman of the PACP said the training sessions were participated by staffs from DHQ Hospital Sargodha, THQ Bhalwal, THQ 90/SB Sargodha, THQ Shahpur, THQ Bhagtanwala, THQ Kot Momin, THQ Bhera, THQ Salanwali and THQ Sahiwal. The members from the healthcare establishments included medical superintendents, surgical specialists, pediatricians, pathologists, gynecologists and nursing staff.
The training areas included overview of HIV infection, epidemiology of HIV, transmission dynamics, transmission from mother to children, post-exposure prophylaxis and referral mechanism. The participants appreciated the initiative by Punjab AIDS Control Program and the trainings help staff preparedness regarding the HIV/ADIS transmission, treatment and care.
PACP's Treatment Co-ordinator Dr Tayyaba Rashid led the technical session; Ms. Faiza Nayyer spoke on counselling of patients, issues of stigma and guidelines for caregivers.
