Medical stores, pharmacies open across Punjab

All the medical stores and pharmacies opened in Punjab on Thursday after the chemists and pharmaceutical companies called off their strike.
The employees and owners of pharmacies were seen satisfied after success of talks held among representatives of the Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PPMA), Homeopathic and Chemist Association, Pakistan Chemist and Druggist Association, Pakistan Chemist Council, China Pharmacy Association. Pakistan Medical Association, All Pakistan Herbal Manufacture Association, Lahore Chemist Association and Distribution Association and other stakeholders with the Punjab government.
After the talks, the provincial government has constituted a five-member committee to review amendments in Drugs Act 1976. The committee will find ways to amicably resolve the reservations of the chemists and druggists. As per agreement, these associations agreed that they are with the government in the campaign of elimination of spurious and sub-standard medicines and are ready to extend all out co-operation to the government in this regard. It was also resolved that all stakeholders will accept all international laws of medicines including those made under US-FDA.
