Brother's murder in Sheikhupura: SC dismisses appeal filed against LHC verdict

The Supreme Court on Friday observed that the society at times appears to be chaotic even then the purity of motherhood is indisputable so a mother cannot get a fake first information report (FIR) registered against her real son for murdering another son.
Resuming the hearing of an appeal filed against Lahore High Court verdict that upheld the life imprisonment to one Basharat of Sheikhupura in a murder case, a three-judge bench led by Justice Dost Muhammad observed that the court has examined all the questions of facts and law in the case but found no room for the convicted person.
Counsel for Basharat pleaded that there was a land dispute between her client and his brother Tariq Javid, saying Zulifiqar, a witness in the case, reached the crime scene after the incident so Basharat's life imprisonment should be abolished due to weak evidence.
Justice Dost Muhammad said a brother had murdered his real brother upon which a mother had launched the FIR, observing mother's evidence is very important along with all the circumstantial evidence in the current case. He remarked whatever the case may be, it would not be possible for a mother to get a fake FIR registered against her own son.
Justice Dost Muhammad said that the mother of the deceased and murderer in the current case has passed through a very difficult time as one of her son was slain and the other was sent behind the bars.
Dismissing the appeal in the matter, Justice Dost Muhammad plainly said that High Court has awarded life imprisonment to Basharat whereas the apex court is not turning down the verdict but it would be the solely mother's discretion whether or nor to forgive her son.
