Bilal Ahmad of Government Degree College Hayatabad was declared as best athlete of the Year-2017 in the Inter-College Boys Athletic Championship held under the aegis of University of Peshawar on Monday. Principal of the Govt Degree College, Hayatabad Peshawar Professor Dr Munawar Alam was the chief guest on this occasion. Director Sports Farid Ur Rehman, members of the faculty, students were also present.
Bilal Ahmad secured 36 points overall by winning gold medal in 100m, 200m, 110m hurdles and grabbed silver medals in 800m and long jump, followed by Inam Ullah of the same college took gold medal in discus throw and silver medal in shot put while Hazrat Amin in 100m and Osama Nawaz in javelin throw took bronze medals.
Speaking on this occasion, Professor Dr Munawar Alam lauded the performance of the players in the Inter-College Boys Athletic Championship held under the aegis of the Directorate of Sports University of Peshawar. He also appreciated Director Sports Farid Ur Rehman for taking interest in different sports activities that is why Govt Degree College Hayatabad recorded excellent result.
Munawar Alam assured the players and other students that they would be provided all out facilities so that they could come up at national and international levels. Professor Munawar Alam also distributed cash prizes among prominent athlete for this excellent performance and expressed the hope that the players would continue their hard work so that to win bank more titles. In his brief chat, Farid Ur Rehman informed the gathering that besides excellent performance in the athletic, the government also got winner trophy of the badminton.
