The Karachi Port handled 108,163 tonnes of cargo comprising 80,654 tonnes of import cargo and 27,509 tonnes of export cargo including 3,998 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 80,654 tonnes comprised of 50,413 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,934 tonnes of general cargo and 22,307 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 27,509 tonnes comprised of 23,009 tonnes of containerised cargo and 4,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 3,998 containers comprising of 2,762 containers import and 1,236 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. The break-up of imported containers shows 1,228 of 20's and 716 of 40's loaded while 08 of 20's and 47 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 221 of 20's and 302 of 40's loaded containers while 233 of 20's and 89 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were thirteen ships namely Maersk Stepnica, Al Farahidi, YM Excellence, Cosco Sao Paulo, Mohar, SC Qingdao, Tromso, Oriental Protea, IVS Windsor, Mare Tracer, Ever Win, Ardmore Seatrader and Uni Auc One carrying containers, oil tankers, coal, steel and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were eight vessels viz. Prosper, APL Japan, Ital Milione, MSC Busan, Selin-D, TEO, Ever Win and Da Hong Xia carrying containers, oil tanker, fertilizer and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were three ships namely Al Dasma, Selin-D and Eastern Light carrying oil tanker, chemical and steel respectively sailed out to sea on Monday, while another ship namely Ital Milione carrying containers is expected to sail on Tuesday. There were six vessels viz. Newark, Chemway Lara, Rui Dong, Asavari, River Eternity and Yuan Hai carrying containers, oil tanker, mogas and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Monday.
