Archroma - churning innovations into reality

28 Feb, 2017

Clothing, synonymous to textiles is man's second basic need after food followed by shelter. Textiles are an integral part of our daily lives. From the clothes that we wear to the bedsheets that we sleep in, textiles are used in a wide variety of areas. Artisans of today ie technical experts deploy a wide variety of performance chemicals to create fabric designs. We are really unaware as to how many specialized textile processes are used to bring a cotton single suit at our doorstep. However, nothing ages faster than last year's fashion. That's why the industry needs a steady stream of new ideas and possibilities.
Archroma teams are geared to satisfy customer needs, they proactively develop innovative chemistry and technology that allows the end-product to bring true differentiation at point of sale.
Sustainability by innovation At Archroma, we continuously challenge the status quo in the deep belief that we can make our industry sustainable. Archroma is committed to develop products and processes that are safer and gentler for the consumer and for the environment.
Traceable from nature to fashion Earthcolors(r) is Archroma's patented new method of creating warm ternary shades from nature. These high performance dyes are synthesised from leaves, non-edible shells of nuts and similar agricultural waste. Earthcolor(r) dyes are fully traceable - from natural waste material to store.
Bringing ink manufacture back to the printer More than 20 billion linear meters of printed textiles are produced every year. Currently, only around two percent of these are made using digital printing techniques. Introduced in November 2015, Inkpresso(r) is a pioneering system that marks a turnaround in textile digital printing market.
Inkpresso(r) changes the way inks are supplied to digital printers. The system brings together benefits that were unattainable so far in inkjet printing: Production flexibility, no shelf-life problems, a larger color spectrum and the possibility of an individual coloristic fingerprint.
The Inkpresso system enables mixing of the required ink on site and on demand. Depending on the size and complexity of the printing company, inks can be sent directly from the Inkpresso IFU to the printer through a piping system, or several printers can be supplied simultaneously using a special distribution unit. In addition, colors can be stored for several weeks in a storage unit.
Protection that keeps textiles dry and nature cleaner
Smartrepel(r) Hydro is Archroma's nature-friendlier protection that keeps cotton, polyester and polyamide textiles dry. The unique technology offers exceptional, durable water repellency and it is not based on fluorine. Smartrepel(r) Hydro produces a soft hand feel and outstanding breathability - the perfect long lasting high performance finish for any weatherproof garment.
These effects combine to create a durable, weatherproof garment that is flexible, soft to the touch and not sticky. Smartrepel(r) Hydro's protective properties last for more than 20 washing cycles, reaching the pinnacle of what is technically possible for any non-fluorine solution today.
Breakthrough technology for eco-advanced colors
Being a favourite all over the world, jeans are produced in huge quantities, a production that is known to rely considerably on natural resources. Advanced Denim, compared to a conventional denim dyeing process, allows savings up to:
92% in water, 87% in cotton waste and 30% in energy.
In an unlimited range of tones and shades with superior color fastness, denim retains the traditional jeans, Advanced Denim comes with a wealth of additional features that set it apart from conventional indigo-dyed fabrics.
Advanced Denim eliminates the limits imposed by a single blue base and opens the door to an infinite range of shades and hues: arctic night, blue sky, dark sea, earthy tones, greens and a full range of colors inspired by and created for nature. Together with blues, navies, grays and blacks perfect for any use or any occasion.
