Activities at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 165,247 tonnes of cargo comprising 122,965 tonnes of import cargo and 42,282 tonnes of export cargo including 6,059 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 122,965 tonnes comprised of 37,646 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,228 tonnes of general cargo; 7,979 tonnes of bulk cargo: 6,926 tonnes of DAP; 1,083 tonnes of sunflower seeds and 74,112 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 42,282 tonnes comprised of 21,162 tonnes of containerised cargo; 13,820 tonnes of iron powder and 7,300 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,059 containers comprising of 2,702 containers import and 3,357 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 795 of 20's and 832 of 40's loaded while 03 of 20's and 120 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 477 of 20's and 284 of 40's loaded containers while 880 of 20's and 716 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely MSC Busan, Ital Milione, Newark and APL Japan carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were two vessels viz. Northern Dependant and Chong Ming carrying containers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were four ships namely Cosco Boston, MT Lahore, Izumo and Da Hong Xia carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while four ships namely Northern Dependant, Kota Kasturi, Chemroad Lara and Formosa Falcon carrying containers and oil tankers respectively are expected to sail on Thursday.
There were three vessels viz. Kota Kasturi, MSC Krittika and Pacific Trust carrying containers and urea respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while three vessels viz. Cosco Wellington, Selin-D and Rainbow carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.

The total import cargo of 51,707 tonnes includes 12,000 tonnes of palm oil; 1,375 tonnes of LPG; 8,725 tonnes of chemical; 7,549 tonnes of coal; 512 tonnes of project cargo and 21,546 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 47,025 tonnes includes 47,025 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,609 containers comprising of 1,134 containers import and 2,475 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. There were two ships namely MV IVS Windsor and MV YM Miranda carrying project cargo and coal sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while two more ships namely CV Maersk Memphis and MV Jambo Javelin carrying containers and project cargo are expected to sail on the same day.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV Maersk Memphis, CV Al Kharj, CV MSC Silvana, MV IVS Windsor, MV Jambo Javelin, MV YM Miranda, MT Nordic Gas and MT Bunga Akasa currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, project cargo, coal, chemical, LPG and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as twelve ships namely CV MSC Mykonos, MV Chance, MV Gas Chem Antarctic, MT Maria-III, MT Ardmore Sealion, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Karachi, MT Pacific Energy, MT Harmony-1, Grand Ace-12 and MT Straum carrying containers, canola seeds, chemical, LPG, mao gas, diesel oil, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three vessels viz. CV MSC Mykonos, MT Maria-III and MT Al-Soor-II carrying containers, LPG and diesel oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
There were three ships namely CV Maersk Innoshima, CV MSC Mykonos and CV Maersk Memphis carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Wednesday. There is one ship namely CV CMA CGM Corneille carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
