Cricket cannot bring peace into country

This is apropos "PSL in Lahore - a risky affair" carried by Business Recorder yesterday. The writer, Saida Fazal, has passionately argued, among other things, that "The responsibility for the loss of a single life must lie squarely on the shoulders of the organisers, the PSL Chairman as well as the Punjab government. Can they guarantee no such horror will occur?"
Hers is a profound argument insofar as people's concerns in relation to security are concerned. It is quite possible that no horror will occur in Lahore on March 5. One's optimism in this regard is premised on introduction of extraordinary security arrangements in Punjab's capital. But one cannot make a similar claim about other areas of Punjab or the country. Cricket cannot bring peace into the country, but peace can definitely help resume international cricket in Pakistan. In other words, holding PSL final at a great risk is something which is being done contrary to a conventional order or relationship.
