Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry has welcomed the categorical assurance of Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Dr Muhammad Irshad that the tax officials would not enter into the premises of any industrial or business concern in order to forcibly lift their record. Rana Sikanadar Azam senior vice president said that the FCCI has privilege to raise voice against these black laws of 38-A and 40-B of the sales Tax Act that had created harassment among the entire business community of Pakistan.
He said that we are proud of the role of FCCI that has been discharging its liabilities to effectively raise the issues confronted by the business community due to the coercive measures of the tax officials. He said that we are really thankful to Dr Irshad for taking immediate notice of the high handedness of the tax officials. He said that tax payers are already co-operating with the FBR by discharging their tax liabilities.
He said that it is very pathetic that the tax officials are pressurising existing tax payers instead of broadening the tax net. He said that as a policy matter the FBR should give clear direction to the field staff to dig out new tax payers instead of concentrating on the existing tax payers. He also expressed concern over the abuse of access to the banks accounts of various businessmen and industrialists and said that this practice will further widen gap between tax payers and tax collectors instead of promoting confidence between them. Hence, he said that the FBR should also stop this practice which has badly affected the business of banking in the Pakistan.
