05 Mar, 2017

President Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum (PBIF), Mian Zahid Hussain has said that the government should improve the tax collection by brining the well-off people into tax net instead of squeezing the poor by increasing oil prices.
He said the government should deny the conditions of the multilateral donors and avoid cashing every opportunity to increase the price of fuel. He became hard on government and said that fuel price causes inflation of all transportation, fruits, vegetables, dairy products and other domestic items making even difficult for poor to light their homes around the country. He termed rise in fuel prices as miseries to the masses.
"The price of petrol and diesel has been revised upward for the fourth time in 45 days which is having an impact on everything," he said. He said that consumers were not given full benefit when oil prices were very low before.
He said that masses and the business community are not ready to accept the argument that government was providing relief to the consumers by not increasing the price of diesel and petrol as much as it should have keeping in view the international prices.
