Ahead of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final in the provincial metropolis on Sunday (today), the security forces have beefed up the security around the Gaddafi Stadium to avoid any untoward happening in line with the international Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore Amin Wains, Deputy Inspector General of police (Operations) Dr Haider Ashraf and other senior officers of the Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) on Saturday gave final touches to security arrangements. Police and LEAs officials have also been issued special directives to patrol effectively in the city to keep an eye on every suspicious activity.
The National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) has also deployed its four mobile database vans at the stadium to check any fake identity there. A temporary 25-bed hospital has also been set up at the National Hockey Stadium and adjacent to Gaddafi Stadium to meet any medical emergency. This temporary hospital will work 24 hours.
They have also deployed several snipers at different buildings for security purposes. The sniffer dogs will also be used. Ticket-holders will be provided bus shuttle service from the parking stands to stadium and then back to the parking areas.
Talking to media, DIG Haider said they have made 'unprecedented security arrangements' for this event. Meanwhile, CCPO Lahore Amin Wains also assured that they had made comfortable security arrangements for the people. Later, both the officers also paid a visit to Liberty Chowk to review security arrangements.
Police have also placed a good number of pickets throughout the city, especially at every entry and exit points, to nab suspected persons. Police have also placed several containers falling on the routes of players and spectators for security reasons.
