Prices of essential kitchen items witness increase

Prices of the essential kitchen items witnessed increase during last week as compared with the preceding week, a survey carried out byBusiness Recorder revealed here on Saturday. The survey observed that the price of onion went up from Rs 130 to Rs 150 per 5kg in wholesales market, while in retail market it is being sold at Rs 40 per kg against Rs 35 per kg. The price of potatoes went up from Rs 1,400 per quintal to Rs 1,600 per quintal which in retail being sold at Rs 30 per kg against Rs 27 per kg.
Ginger price in wholesale market went further up from Rs 500 to Rs 600 per 5kg, which in retail market is being sold at Rs 140 per kg against Rs 120 per kg; garlic price went up from Rs 1,300 to Rs 1,350 per 5kg in wholesales market which in retail is still being sold at Rs 300 per kg, while Chinese garlic is being available at Rs 1,250 per 5kg in wholesales market which in retail is being available at Rs 280 per kg, lemon price remained stable at Rs 200 per 5kg, which in retail market is being sold at Rs 60 per kg.
However, tomato price went down from Rs 240 to Rs 200 per 5kg in wholesales market, which in retail market is being sold at Rs 50 per kg against Rs 55 per kg. Prices of all the major pulses remained stable as Maash is being sold at Rs 160 per kg, Channa at Rs 170 per kg, Lobia at Rs 100-120 per kg, Moong at Rs 120 per kg and Masoor at Rs 110 per kg, while the rice prices remained stable as best quality Basmati rice is being available at Rs 120 per kg and normal at Rs 70 per kg.
During the week under review, chicken price witnessed a significant increase of Rs 1,000 per 40kg from Rs 4,500 to Rs 5,500 in wholesale market, while in retail market live chicken is being available at Rs 155 per kg against Rs 130-135 per kg. Chicken meat price went up from Rs 220 per kg to Rs 260 per kg, however no significant change was witnessed in egg prices as eggs were being available at Rs 100 per dozen in wholesales market which in retail are being available at Rs 110 per dozen.
Sugar price also remained stable at Rs 3,100 per 50kg bag which in retail market is being sold at Rs 67-70 per kg, while a bag of 20kg normal quality wheat flour is being available at Rs 750. Brinjal price went up from Rs 300 to Rs 400 per 5kg in wholesales market which in retail are being available at Rs 90 per kg against Rs 70 per kg, carrot price went up from Rs 100 to Rs 150 per 5kg, which in retail market is being sold at Rs 35 per kg against Rs 25 per kg. No change was witnessed in cucumber price as it was being available at Rs 100 per 5kg which in retail market is being sold at 30 per kg, a pack of 8kg radish in wholesales market was being available at Rs 100, which in retail is being sold at Rs 15 per kg.
Okra price went down from Rs 500 to Rs 350 per 5kg which in retail is being sold at Rs 80-90 per kg against Rs 120 per kg, price of peas further went down from Rs 200 to Rs 180 per 5kg, which in retail market is being sold at Rs 45 per kg against Rs 50 per kg, price of maro kadu and kadu went up from Rs 150 to Rs 300 per 5kg and Rs 300 to Rs 400 per 5kg respectively in wholesales market while in retail maro kadu is being sold at Rs 70 per kg against Rs 40 per kg and kadu at Rs 80-90 per kg against Rs 70 per kg.
Kareela price went down from Rs 1,200 to Rs 800 per 5kg, which is being sold at Rs 200 per kg against Rs 300 per kg, price of arvi went up from Rs 350 to Rs 400 per 5kg, which in retail market is being sold at Rs 90 per kg against Rs 80 per kg.
Cauliflower price went down from Rs 150 to Rs 100 per 5kg which in retail market is being sold at Rs 30 per kg against Rs 40 per kg and cabbage price also went down from Rs 150 to Rs 100 per 5kg which in retail market is being sold at Rs 30 per kg against Rs 40 per kg. Capsicum price went down further from Rs 450 to Rs 400 per 5kg which in retail market is being sold at Rs 100 per kg against Rs 120 per kg, beans price went down from Rs 300 to Rs 250 per 5kg, which in retail market is being sold at Rs 60 per kg against Rs 70 per kg. The survey observed that the prices of entire range of fruits as well as non-perishable kitchen items, including spices, ghee/cooking oil and others, remained stable in the market.
