Apple recently announced its soon-to-be held event’s date, however, since it clashed with smartphone manufacturer OnePlus’ event date, the latter has decided to reschedule it.
Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus was supposed to hold its new OnePlus 6T launch event on October 30, however, with Apple’s recent announcement of its iPad event, OnePlus decided to shift the date a day before to October 29.
OnePlus CEO Pete Lau said that the date change via blog post explaining how both the events were scheduled to take place in New York the same day, and how hard it was for them to take the decision of date change.
Apple sends out colorful logo invites for its much-awaited event
“One minute, we were preparing for our greatest and most exciting launch event yet. The next, we were posed with a difficult question: ‘What do we do now?’ In any pursuit, you can only play the cards you are dealt. We were dealt a pretty bad hand. Our challenge was to find a way to make the most of a bad situation,” wrote Lau.
Lau said that for many months, numerous people have worked hard to create their best product to date and they want to ensure that the product ‘gets the time and attention it deserves’. He informed that the firm’s communications with their press contacts led it to believe that its event would be ‘overshadowed’ when compared to Apple’s if they stick to the original timeline.
“We have to remain realistic. We have only just begun our journey and cannot afford to let one of the most important products in our history be affected by another great product launch. So after deep reflection, we have decided to move the OnePlus 6T Launch Event in New York City to October 29.”
However, to accommodate people who made efforts such as booking flights, making hotel reservations etc., Lau apologized saying that they know ‘sorry isn’t good enough’ and they are doing everything they can to make things right including people being able to apply for full refund of their ticket, pay for moving their flights, making hotel reservations, and covering costs anyone incur to change their plans.
“If you’re still able to join our event, first of all: Thank you! We can’t wait to unveil the OnePlus 6T. It’ll be a big week in New York. But, we’re ready to Unlock The Speed – hand-in-hand with you. Thank you for supporting us! See you October 29, at 11AM EDT.”
