Commissioners asked to gear up anti-encroachment drive

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has directed the divisional commissioners to gear up anti-encroachment drive in their respective divisions adding that removal of encroachment in cities along roads and public properties is one of the top priorities of the government. This task will be brought to the logical end at all cost.
He also directed the commissioners to regularly submit monthly progress report to Chief Minister's Secretariat about the progress viz-a-viz encroachment drive. Chief Minister also directed authorities of Health and Food Departments to take serious steps against spurious drugs, quackery, substandard edible items. He was presiding over a meeting to review pace of progress on action against encroachments, spurious drugs and substandard food items at Chief Minister Secretariat. Secretary Health, Food, Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and other concerned attended the meeting.
The Chief Minister directed to constitute special teams at divisional level to effectively control adulteration, quackery and flow of spurious drugs in the market. Similarly Food safety and Drug Regulatory Authorities should be fully activated to play their effective role to bring the culprits to task through exemplary punishments and fines on the spot.
Pervez Khattak agreed to the proposal of establishment of Testing Laboratories at divisional level to test the substandard medicines and food item confiscated by Drug and Food inspectors with the direction to take necessary steps in this regard so that the same can be tested within the set timeline. On a point raised by Divisional Commissioners about encroachments on public property, Chief Minister directed the administrative secretaries to pinpoint illegal encroachments on public properties of their respective departments at district level and inform respective commissioners and Deputy Commissioners in written so that proper action can be initiated against the violators. The Chief Minister said that commendation certificates would be awarded to commissioners, Deputy Commissioners showing excellent performance in removal of encroachments.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister while chairing a meeting of the WSSP directed the quarter concerned to dispose of solid waste, setup dumping grounds at district level adding that the task should be carried out by outsourcing through a competitive transparent mechanism.
