The Senior Vice President of Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Turab Ali Khawaja has said on Sunday that the traders of Hyderabad support the decisions of All Pakistan Chambers and Traders Associations including FBR taxation to be given under Karachi Chamber of Commerce.
He demanded from the chairman FBR to immediately take back powers of FBR officers given under sections 38-A, 38-B, 40-A, 40-B, 176 and 177, and also stop undue raids on tax payers.
He said that withholding tax is nowhere to be found in world but it is imposed here, the traders themselves collect 69 percent of taxation and return it to FBR, while FBR merely collects 31 percent of tax.
He said that an extra power given to FBR officers is hurdle in increasing tax net. Turab also demanded that FBR should remove the withholding tax imposed without consultation of traders, while the traders consider having legal framework against withholding tax. He also demanded to implement the suggestions given by Tax Reform Commission 2014.
