KP CTD arrests 1192 hardcore terrorists in two years: Durrani

The Police chief of KP, (IG) Nasir Khan Durrani, who is scheduled to retire by the end of this month, said that during the last 2 years, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) KP arrested 1192 hardcore terrorists and their cases were challaned in the relevant courts and many were awarded 28,28 and 15,15 years rigorous imprisonment respectively.
Addressing the last Police Darbar of his 35-year professional career here in Malak Saad Shaheed Police Lines Peshawar on Sunday, he also narrated the achievements of operation Zarb-e-Azb, Raddul Fasad and Police Search and Strike operations in the settled areas in detail.
All ranks officers and Jawans of different units, sections and wings of Peshawar Police attended the Darbar.
Appreciating the Police department's performance, Durrani said that KP was one of the most dangerous and difficult province for policing and only the courageous and valour Police Jawans of KP can confront these challenges in a best manner.
Nasir Khan Durrani said that KP Police is very receptive force and can meet any challenges effectively in a best professional manner.
The IGP also dwelt at length of the confronting challenges and problems when he took over as IG of the Police Force and also explained the initiatives and strategy to overcome these challenges due to which the KP Police converted as model Police Force of the country.
The IGP also held in high esteem the professionalism and skill displayed by the KP Police Jawan in displayed by the KP Police Jawan in thwarting the deadly terrorist attack in Tangi Charsadda and PS Mondan Bannu and termed it text book performance being thought in training centers.
The IGP directed the participants to come the rescue of the weak and oppressed section of the society by considering them best deserve people of Police help.
They were further directed to give them due respect and honour and seek their help for eliminating crimes from the society. The IGP disclosed that the decision of up-gradation of different ranks of the force Jawans and increasing of incentives of police shuhadda package will be announced very soon.
Durrani paid rich tributes to the very important and positive role of the Peshawar media by terming it one of the best and mature media of the country and hoped that their positive help will continue with the police in war against terror in future too.
On this occasion the IGP awarded Peshawar police officers and Jawans who exhibited excellent performance against terrorists, kidnappers, extortionists and other criminals in different action from time to time.
Earlier, Chief Capital City Police Peshawar Muhammad Tahir Khan while presenting welcome address highlighted in detail the police reforms introduced by IGP, establishment of specialised schools, policing through information technology gadgets and other initiatives.
He termed Nasir Khan Durrani as a visionary commander and added he will be remembered as one of the best police chief in the history of KP police.
