Census proceedings in Punjab begins from chief minister's residence

Chief Minister of Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif on Wednesday commenced proceedings of sixth census in the province by putting number on his residence in Model Town. Chief Minister stated that census is necessary for development of the county. He averred that excellent arrangements have been made for holding of census. Process of holding sixth census began from Punjab Assembly Secretariat during the day. Deputy Speaker Sardar Sher Ali Gorchani wrote census number on the assembly secretariat initiating census proceedings.
Census proceedings which have commenced in 16 districts of Punjab will continue till April 13 2017. A control room has been established to receive complaints about any error or omission in the census. In the 27th assembly session here during the day questions regarding Special Education and Energy Departments were asked. There was also discussion on pre-budget in the session on the occasion.
Answering queries on Special Education, parliamentary secretary told that there were 20 departments on Special Education in District Lahore. On Energy sector, House was told during the session that 96 MW Jinnah Barrage has been constructed on Indus River. He stated turbines have been erected for generation of power on Jinnah and Chashma barrages. Punjab assembly session was later adjourned by the chair.
