PPP accuses government of corruption

18 Mar, 2017

"Loot sale" of national assets is continued in the garb of privatisation in the country under the government of Nawaz Sharif. This was alleged by secretary information Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmed in a statement issued by the media office PPP Islamabad here on Friday. Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmed alleged that corruption of billions is being done by the sale of Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore airports as Sharif family is buying these assets through their front man.
He said that land of about 31000 acres of Karachi airport, 1400 acres of Lahore airport and 3500 acres of Islamabad airport are worth over 4000 billion rupees which the Sharif family is about to gulp. There is no justification of privatising Civil Aviation Authority which annually earns over 70 billion rupees. The government has planned to privatise 36 profit making entities which Sharif family will buy, he claimed.
PPP information secretary said it is ironic that despite this "loot sale" of assets there is no suo-motu notice as NAB has proved to be loyal to the Sharifs. Whenever Nawaz Sharif comes to power, he first destroys profit making entities and then buys them through their front men on throw away prices. Government is responsible for the loss of planes hired by PIA but unfortunately PIA will be punished for the loss, Chaudhry Manzoor concluded.-PR
